Ensimmäinen tutustuminen Nurmojokeen. Tosiasiassa se kuitenkin on vain miellyttävä harha kuin todellinen vaara. Oleellista on välttää väyläbunkkerit tai muutoin tämä lyhyt ja helpohko avausväylä voi aiheuttaa tarpeettomia hankaluuksia.

The first of several encounters with the river Nurmo, but in truth it should be nothing more than a pleasant distraction rather than a danger. The key here is to avoid the fairway sand or else this short and simple opener can be unnecessarily awkward.

Väylä, jolla voit ”antaa palaa”, koska pitkällä avauksella selviät useimmista vaikeuksista. Draw-lyönti tuottaa parhaan tuloksen, jos pituus riittää. Mikäli lippu on oikealla, ota iso maila, jotta lyönti kantaa yli viheriön edessä olevan notkelman.

A hole you can let rip on as you can clear most of the trouble with a big strike. Firing at the fairway bunkers on the right with a touch of draw would be perfect. If the flag is on the right make sure you have enough club to fly the front hollow.

A definite birdie chance. Even though a ditch cuts the fairway in half, longer hitters can still reach this green in two from short of the water, although it is not easy to find because it is shallow and well guarded. A lay-up and a controlled short iron in might still be the best bet.

Beautifully sheltered by towering pines, this seemingly straightforward par-3 needs a well struck long iron to find the green. Although the entrance looks narrow, the green opens up behind the right bunker, so do not be afraid.

The perfect way to play this is to aim up the right side to avoid the fairway bunker, and then hit a fade in to work with the angle of the green. Because it is a flat and often shadowed fairway – making it difficult to judge distance – trust the yardage not your eyes.

A short but tricky three, where the main difficulty lies in the contours of the green. An awkward hump front right and a ridge beyond can feed your ball away in unwanted directions and also makes putting troublesome. Good luck!

Looks dangerous, and preys on people’s minds, but play it sensibly and a par is not a problem. If you don’t feel like taking on the water and drawing your drive around the corner, just hit a long iron out to the right and treat it is a genuine three-shotter.

A cracker. Bold players can hit a big fade up and around the corner, leaving just a short iron in over the rocky brook, but most are advised to fire a long iron or fairway wood straight up the hill and take your chances from there. But make sure you don’t have enough club to reach the hidden fairway bunker.

A good looking driving hole inviting a big hit over the burbling river and up the left side. If you are skillful enough you can use the swell in the green to feed your approach close to a flag cut at the back.

Although it looks long on paper, it dog-legs from right-to-left so much further up the hole, that it gives you a chance to cut the corner and go for the green in two. Don’t let the nest of bunkers distract you, concentrate on your striking and a birdie can be the reward.

A beguiling but honest beauty. A cleverly designed hole that tests your control. Anything tugged left will probably end up in sand, but one leaking right can end up in worse trouble down a steep grassy bank. Take a par and move on!

Ruuhikoski’s signature hole and one that flirts with serene river for its entirety. The safe play is to aim at the fairway bunker, but choose a club to land short. A bold drive can be rewarded with a short shot into this narrow but very long green lessening the risk of finding water on your approach.

A great birdie chance even if you play it safe. Two decent strikes will get you close enough to the green, without risking going near the lake, to be able to attack the flag. Coming in from the left means you can fire up the length of the green.

A testing uphill par-4. The hardest part of this challenge is judging distance into the humpbacked green. It is surrounded by sand, and you can’t see the bottom of the flag so you have to trust to luck a little. Err on the short side as getting up and down from through the back is very difficult.

A stunning, swooping hole that tests your nerve. Although the green is shallow, it is best to fly the ball all the way onto it, as pitching short on the downslope can shoot your ball through the green and into trouble.

Even though it is possible to drive the green over the trees, it takes a very brave person to try it. Best to aim at the bunker at the corner of the dog-leg and leave a short shot in. Be sure to take enough club though, to get past the trees on the left as you can be blocked out if you are not careful.

A fitting end where the hole sweeps down and around following the meander of the river. It is crucial that you do not fly the green as tangled banks fall away to the water. Try to be short of any pin as the green slopes from back to front.
